    Poster School

Not far beneath the sea lie lost treasures and failed dreams, remnants of 16
    th
century Spain's fervent conquering and exploiting of the New World.” The map-side of this study of lost and found treasures shows a world-map on which are marked the locations of treasure sites discovered on land or at sea through history. There are detailed map insets of the Mediterranean and the South China Sea area. The reverse-side tells the story of three Spanish ships in April 1554, loaded with treasure and passengers, which sank off the coast of Padre Island (now Texas) and the underwater archaeology involved in recovering some of the treasure. Various explorers are profiled.
