Description
Limited edition (FRAMED) print depicting the original design plan (routing plan) for "The Proposed Golf Links at Pebble Beach, California". Originally named Old Del Monte, the course name was changed just after opening. The original design of the course was created by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, two amateur players. This rendering is by golf architect Forrest Richardson, who in the 1970s interviewed Neville and gained insight about the original design. Based on that interview, historic accounts and old photos, Richardson interpreted the terrain and routing of the original course envisioned at Pebble Beach, California. The plans are reproduced in color on heavyweight vellum finish paper and each is numbered from a limited edition of 400. Each print measures 17x9 inches and is FRAMED in a Canadian Walnut finish frame made of composite wood (overall size, framed, is 19.5 in. x 11.5 in.) Clear Styrene "glass" is used for shipping purposes; you may easily insert real glass upon receipt if you wish. The detail is provided to show the quality and texture, which is like an old fashioned blueprint. A scorecard is imprinted as well. For anyone who loves the course at Pebble Beach, California this is a great conversation piece showing the holes as they were originally designed and built. Changes over the years have included lengthening the 18th hole to a par-5, building a new 5th hole and many others. But...this print shows the magical design as Neville and Grant originally envisioned it...a great piece for any library, office or golf wall. The "executive-sized" print will fit nearly any space. There are multiple prints available in this auction — you may order one or more.
Your print number will depend on your order sequence. As this print was just released in May 2010, current print numbers are in the 10-60 range of the 400 edition quantity.
