Description
WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE (1966)Shirley Jackson (source) Vintage original 22 x 14" (56 x 36 cm.) theatre window card poster, USA. Washington, D.C.: David Merrick, Sept. 28-Oct. 15, [1966]. Minor wear at extreme blank edges, NEAR FINE.
Poster for a month-long tryout for this play by Hugh Wheeler, adapted from one of Shirley Jackson's most famous (and harrowing) works of fiction, with its overriding theme the persecution of people who exhibit "otherness". The play, despite having the great director Garson Kanin at its helm, was undoubtedly very strong stuff for the Broadway audience of its time, and it only lasted for a week there.
